Open House, Art Sale November 12 - 13

It was a great experience preparing for this Open House. It took several days to select paintings that were appropriate for the event. Since we are close to the Holidays, I created smaller pieces and framed them. My husband and daughters helped to put final touches to the preparation. Friends and colleagues attended on Saturday and Sunday. I have included a photo of Ana with one of the paintings she took home.

Falling Leaves Members Choice Exhibiton at NPCC

I have entered two of my paintings in the Falling Leaves Exhibition at NPCC. The show runs fron October 17th until November 13th. At the present time I am working on these two bodies of work with the intention that one of them will be shown in my Spring exhibit at NPCC

La Boca Paintings at Malbec Restaurant in Downtown Toronto

Six of my paintings from the LA BOCA SERIES are displayed at Malbec Restaurant during the months of August and September. Francisco Bogado, owner of this argentine restaurant in Davisville, has invited me to display my work evoking the city of Buenos Aires. In addition to my exhibit the restaurant features a tango show on Saturdays. We have visited Malbec with friends last Saturday. We have really enjoyed the food, the singing and dancing!

My painting La Boca – Caminito: A Magical Street was accepted into this exhibition. Jurors: Cole Swanson, curator at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga and George Earl Wale, Director of Programs at the Burlington Art Centre.

Buenos Aires - La Boca Series at the ARD Annual Trade Event

The ARD event gather under one roof over a thousand guests to enjoy food , wine music and dance from Buenos Aires. A great opportunity to show, once again, my series Buenos Aires La Boca, with the addition of three new paintings. The largest piece of the serie is a 60" x 24" painting titled Caminito: a magical street

Secreto de Verano (Summer Secret)

I was invited by Andrew Richard Designs, an upscale patio and garden furniture showroom located in Downtown Toronto, to participate as the guest artist for their event called SECRETO DE VERANO. The theme for this event is the city of Buenos Aires,its music, dance, food and wines....
I will be showing six paintings of my LA BOCA SERIES. This time I have decided to work on a large canvas (24"x 60") to show the Caminito Street in La Boca.

This neigbourhood of the old port of Buenos Aires was born at the end of the
1800's. Houses were built combining stucco and tin walls which give the area a distinctive character. This quarter was originally populated by italian fishermen that moved to Argentina from Northern Italy. They coloured their houses with left over paint they used on their fishing boats.

By the mid 1900's La Boca became a tourist attraction and to date remains one of the most visited districts of Buenos Aires.

Inspired by the colourful palette of La Boca, I have decided to honour Buenos Aires, my native city, by painting it my way.... With 12 paintings in the body of work, of which several were sold in my May exhibit, I have enjoyed this creative venture and satisfied with the end result.

As you know, I have exhibited many times in the past eight years. However this event was very special to me because it was my first solo show. Creating twenty five paintings, evoking emotions and memories of two cities I love, New York and Buenos Aires, required significant effort on my part. I truly gave it my all!

Thanks to all the guests that attended the reception and special thanks to those of you that purchased six paintings on May 15th. It is a great feeling seeing a red dot on the label. Knowing that my work will be in your homes makes my very happy.

My gratitude to my family for their continued support, you are my inspiration and the wind beneath my wings.

Winter 2011

I have entered again into the EAG Winter Artists' Choice Exhibit at Neilson Park Creative Centre. The show was from March 7th to March 27th.

During my time in Argentina, I was able to explore working on unframed canvas as bringing large paintings back to Canada would not be easy. Looking back now I am greatful I made that decision seeing as the Air Canada clerk (upon checking in) advised me that I would have needed a letter from the Secretary of Fine Arts stating that I was not smuggling a Picasso out of the country! Here are a few of the paintings I completed during my time down South.

Impact 2010 - 18th Annual Juried Art Exhibition

Entering one of my paintings in a juried exibition has been always a stressing experience for me. The thought of not being selected creates a feeling of disapproval. Lee Petrie, curator for Pearson International Airport art exhibits and Astrid Ho co-founder of the Propeller Centre for the Arts, jurors for this show, decided that my painting Windows Series deserved to be in the exhibit. Thank you Rick Taylor for your comment on this painting!!!!

Thank Goodness Is Friday #4

TGIF#4 took place at Neilson Park Creative Centre with many visitors attending the reception on May 1st. The exhibit showcased student's work from Steve Rose's art classes. Board of Exploration is the result of my curiosity for exploring new materials. It is a two sided smooth board on corrugated cardboard used in the packaging of heavy items that provided a light weight panel on which acrylics, gesso and other medias could be used successfully. I had a lot of fun and will do it again!!!!!

This year again I have joined my fellow artists at Nielson Creative Centre for the Winter Exhibition. My painting, Ice Blue, an acrylic on canvas reveals one of my favorites colour palettes. I achive freedom in my strokes and mark making when I work on large frames such as this....

Show at the Gladstone Hotel - Forces to be Reckoned with

Last Fall, from October 16th-22nd, a fellow artist, Julita Walanska, and myself, exhibited our favourite pieces at the Art Café located on the ground floor of the Gladstone Hotel on Queens Street West in Toronto. The Art Cafe is a well known venue for art shows and musical performances. We were excited and privileged to have an interesting crowd on the opening night. My show included 17 paintings on canvas and 10 on paper representing a selection of my work of the past two years.

Thank Goodness it's Friday #3 has been a memorable experience due to the exceptional quality of the work presented by all participating artists.

The exhibition, that ran from March 31st to April 19th, received great support from the community. I want to thank my family and friends for attending the opening ceremony on April 4th and for making this day very special for me.

New York Paintings

Below are some of the paintings I created during my frequent visits to New York City, as wells as during the summer of 2007 when I attended a workshop at the National Academy School of Fine Arts.

New York is truly a magical city that has always inspired me. In addition to the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple, I deeply enjoy visiting the grand museums and art galleries that color this city. They nourish my imagination and encourage me to explore new techniques.
